'The Iranian flotilla which consists of Damavand destroyer and Peykan missile cruiser will dock in Russia within two days,' Sayyari said.
'The trip aims at conveying the message of peace and friendship, promoting maritime culture and establishing cooperation to maintain peace in the Caspian Sea,' he added.
The flotilla is scheduled to hold joint drills with Russia naval forces, he noted.
Sayyari went on to say that the aim of the drills is to show naval forces' capabilities and power.
The tour has nothing to do with US recent moves in the region, Sayyari said in response to a question.
'We are aware of threats and different scenarios and we are quite ready for them,' the Iranian commander said.
Iran's doctrine is defensive and based on deterrence power, he said.
Sayyari pointed to Iran maritime ties with Italy, Russia, Pakistan, India and China saying, as a regional power, Iran playa a major role in maintaining security.
